Baucus 6th Most Powerful

Montana's Max Baucus is the sixth-most powerful U.S. Senator in America. That's according to the non-partisan group Congress.org, which released its "Power Rankings" today in Washington. This year Baucus gained a spot on the power grid, going from 7th in 2007 to 6th most powerful in the Senate in 2008.

Baucus, Montana's longest serving U.S. Senator, is chairman of the powerful U.S. Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over all taxes and revenue, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, the Children's Health Insurance Program, and international trade.
